October Reflection and Into November

Upon reflection, October was a good reading month. It’s the first time in 2021 that I had no 1-star or 2-star reads. Additionally, I only DNF’d one book. I read four books from my Up Next Shelf. But, now that I have more YA on my shelves, I’m hoping my mood reading will pull me towards my backlist of unread books for the remainder of 2021.Β

In October, I really enjoyed BookTube and all the TBR game videos. They inspired me to start selecting my Monthly Minimum TBR list through bookish prompts! I’m really excited to post my November Wrap to determine what books from my Up Next Shelf I’ll be reading in December.

As you can infer by the descriptor of my October Wrap, most of the books I read in October were steamy. My most-read genres were all romances which reflects my need for lighter books as my semester became more demanding.

My November Hopefuls

At this point, my November Hopefuls are more accurately a list of books I want to read before 2022. First, I need to read Theory by Dionne Brand before mid-December; I’m writing a reflective essay on it for one of my classes. Second, I want to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I love character-driven books and one of my friends assured me I would like it so I’m looking forward to this quick read. Finally, I will be reading Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey. I’m in the mood for books about books and this is the last book I bought myself for my birthday this year, so it would be nice to wrap up those purchases before the New Year.
