My Reading Progress

After another stressful week, I allowed myself to go to the bookstore and left with seven books! If I don’t read them all this month, I have the makings for another book haul. Since all of the books I bought are Young Adult, which has been my reading mood lately, I’m hoping to get through them all though.

One of the books I read immediately when I got back to my place was Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I was not expecting to love it as much as I did; while I enjoy sci-fi, it’s not a favourite genre of mine. But, I loved the character growth of the main character and the AI spaceship, M-Bot, who’s having an existential crisis was hilarious. I can’t wait to continue the series.

I read Window Shopping by Tessa Bailey on the first day of December. I wanted to start off the month with a holiday read and I’ve been counting the days until I could read this book since I bought it back in October! I loved how Window Shopping is a grumpy-sunshine romance where the Heroine is the grump. Despite being such opposites, there’s tangible and believable chemistry between the main characters. I especially enjoyed how far gone for the Hero was for the Heroine.

I’m excited to read more holiday romances this month.

Up Next Shelf Progress

A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams is one of the books I picked up last week! It’s fulfilling my need for character-driven plots. Also, I’m a sucker for books about books. I especially love the message behind The Reading List: how books provide a bridge of connection between people and bring joy.

I’m also still reading Theory by Dionne Brand which needs to be finished by Thursday. It’s taking me a bit longer to read since I’m annotating it at the same time for my essay.

To Look Forward To This Week

Amanda Gorman’s collection of poems, Call Us What We Carry, was released today (December 7th)! In 2022, one of my reading goals is to read more poems and I’ve decided this book will be a good place to start.

Towards the end of the week, I’ll be posting my review of the epilogue novella of the Steel Demons MC series by Crystal Ash: Endless. I’m also hoping to post my November Wrap and finally be caught up on my Monthly Wraps just in time for 2022!
