My Reading Progress

Wow, it’s been a long time since I posted my Weekly Wrap. November has been so chaotic that I haven’t been able to post anything! Hence, this weekly wrap is dedicated to the past three weeks, including the weeks of:

  • November 1st to 7th,
  • November 8th to 14th, and
  • November 15th to 21st.

In the past three weeks, I’ve read 27 books and have completed 95% of my Goodreads goal! While it’s ambitious, it’s possible I might reach my low-key goal of 400 books for 2021.

In November I revisited two series that I haven’t read about in more than three years. The first was the continuation of Suzanne Wright’s Deep in Your Veins series on vampires. Captivated includes three novellas that give supporting characters from the preceding books their own HEA. Touch of Rapture continues the main characters’ story from the first three books. It was just as funny, steamy and adventurous as expected.

I also read the second and third books in The Four Horsemen series by Laura Thalassa. I reviewed the first book in the series, Pestilence, on this blog back in 2018 (read my review). The series is quite a dark, post-apocalyptic imagining of the end of the world with the biblical Four Horsemen traversing the Earth. While the series is fantastical and romantic, the books explore interesting themes of morality and mortality.

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

Get the Book: 🇨🇦

With December fast approaching, I’ve combined my to-be-read list with books I need to read for my current classes. First up is Theory by Dionne Brand. The book is literary fiction but reflects on the processes of theorizing required in graduate school and how that theorizing is intertwined with life outside of academia.

I’m also reading The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton for my 19th-century literature class. It’s a fictional story that explores womanhood in the gilded age. I’m only 10% in so TBD whether I like it.

To Look Forward To This Week

Of the books released in November on my Anticipated Releases list, the book that’s at the top of my To Buy List is You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao. The cover is gorgeous but the premise sounds like the perfect emotional read. It kind of reminds me of The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver (read my review) which I really enjoyed.
