My Reading Progress
The past week was so busy, but I found a new romance author that I seriously adore! Through Instagram, I discovered the upcoming release Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert and instantly wanted to read it, but it’s being released in March. I was so happy to discover that there were two previous books in the series, so I bought both! The first book in The Brown Sisters series is Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert, and I LOVED it! It speaks to how amazing the writing, chemistry and plot are when the Hero’s characterization is a pet-peeve of mine (see my review here to get the details) yet only detract 0.25-stars from the 5-star rating. This series is so heartwarming and filled with relatable characters who are so endearing. I cannot wait for Eve’s book – March seems so far away!

To Be Read
I feel bad The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett is gracing my TBR section…. for the third (fourth?) time 😅. I know I’m going to love this book, but I haven’t had the time or haven’t been feeling like a historical fiction novel. But, this week, I’m doing a buddy read of The Vanishing Half with my friend – I’m hoping it goes better than our Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo reading. Also, here’s to The Vanishing Half, only gracing the weekly wrap in the future as a review notice!
To Look Forward To This Week
Once again there are quite a few books releasing this week that will be instantly added to my to-be-read list! I am definitely in the habit of adding more books to my want-to-read list than I could possibly read in a year.
This week The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon is out tomorrow (January 26th)! I loved Rachel’s novel Today Tonight Tomorrow (see my review here) and can’t wait to see her take on an adult enemies-to-lovers romance.
The two other books releasing are Unchosen by Katharyn Blair which is a new take on the Chosen One fantasy trope: the Heroine’s sister is the Chosen One; she pretends to be the Saviour to protect her sister. The novel is about taking charge of your own destiny and demonstrating one doesn’t need to be Special to save the world.
The other novel releasing is Ida B. the Queen: The Extraordinary Life and Legacy of Ida B. Wells by Michelle Duster. It’s an artistic compilation that demonstrates how Ida B. Well’s civil rights activism set the groundwork for current social justice movements.
