My Reading Progress

This is the first time I combine two weekly wraps together; I combined June 7th to June 13th and June 14th to June 20th. I had a mid-term recently, so I thought instead of rushing one of my weekly wraps, I’ll just put two together, which I actually found really fun! First off, this post is proof that I’m a stress reader! In two weeks, I’ve read 32 books which is definitely the peak of my reading pace in 2021. The books I read June 14th to June 20th are also an ode to Ruby Dixon; I basically worked my way through her Ice Planet Barbarians series and her Icehome series 😂.

I also posted my first book review in a while, The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner. It was a good book but I think its inconsistent pacing significantly detracts from its enjoyability. You can read all my thoughts on the book here.

One of my favourite books I read was Reel by Kennedy Ryan! It had everything you could want in a Hollywood romance: character-driven, employee-boss (lead actors-director) forbidden romance, a grumpy yet very sweet hero, and quite a few emotional plot points. The whole story was amazing. If you’re in a reading slump or are looking for a new romance to inhale go buy this book (it’s also been recently added to Kindle Unlimited)!

Up Next Shelf Progress

A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.

I read five books from my Up Next shelf these past two weeks:

  1. The Yellow Paper
  2. Managed
  3. Savages
  4. Barbarian’s Rescue
  5. Willa’s Beast

Unfortunately, I still haven’t completed any of the books from my minimum to-be-read list. While all of them are relatively short – novellas, honestly – I want to ensure I give each of them my undivided attention since their content is so interesting.

I’ve updated My Up Next Shelf page on my blog so you can see the total number of books I’ve read from this list in 2021!

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

Get the Book: 🇨🇦 ~ 🇬🇧 ~ 🇺🇸

As I mentioned earlier, I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange is still on my TBR list. However, considering how short it is, I’m hoping to read it in one sitting this week.

Added to my TBR list is Ringshout by P. Djeli Clark. These past two weeks, I’ve been in a romance heavy mood, and I think I’m finally getting in a fantasy mood again! I have so many fantasy books waiting on my Up Next Shelf. However, at the top is Ringshout, which combines historical fiction with fantasy and horror. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book, so I’m really excited to get into it!

To Look Forward To This Week

What great timing I have featuring Finding Ronan’s Heart by Melanie Moreland! I am posting my review of the sweet romance tomorrow (Wednesday, June 23), just a day before its release on Thursday!

I can’t wait until everyone has an opportunity to read this book. As I’ve already – briefly – mentioned, Ronan was one of the best-developed Heroes I’ve read from Melanie. I loved the complexity of his characterization, which made him incredibly relatable.

I’ve also postponed my May Wrap. It might be released later this week or next week, depending on my schedule, so keep an eye out for that! I love getting into my reading statistics.
