My Reading Progress

Get the Book: πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

While the number of books I read last week is smaller than it has been in a while, two of them were highly anticipated reads. Ruthless by Crystal Ash is the 8th book in the Steel Demons MC series. It’s a reverse harem post-apocalyptic paranormal romance and so freaking awesome. There was of course a major cliffhanger that makes me anxious for the next – and final – book in the series!

Last week I was also sent an eARC for Finding Ronan’s Heart by Melanie Moreland. Classic me, I thought I’d start it that night and finish the rest during the weekend, only to feel compelled to read the whole book in one sitting. It was the latest I’ve gone asleep in a while. I’m always in the mood for Melanie’s romance books and I think Ronan was her most compelling hero to date.

Up Next Shelf Progress

A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.

I finished The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner from my Up Next Shelf last week! As I predicted, once I got in the mood I finished the rest of the book in one sitting. I also succeeded in resisting my desire to purchase more books πŸ˜….

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

I want to read whatever books I have on my Up Next Shelf that are under 250 pages during June. My reading mood has been a bit off, so I’m hoping the shorter books will act as a “re-set.” From this list is I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange. I haven’t read many feminist books lately, and I’m looking forward to diving back into the genre.

That being said I’m still juggling quite a few books on my currently-reading list:

  • The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi
  • Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay

To Look Forward To This Week

Two books from my Anticipated Upcoming Releases list released today:

  • The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid
  • The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri

The Wolf and the Woodsman appears like it’ll be a favourite of mine. It combines mythology with folklore while exploring the complexities of cultural identity and problematizing nation-building.

The Jasmine Throne is a YA sapphic high fantasy novel featuring a vengeful imprisoned princess and a handmaiden with a forbidden power who team up to depose the princess’s brother from the throne. It sounds epic.
