March Reflection and Into April

My March Wrap Up is yet another monthly wrap that I’m writing retroactively. March was really stressful, so of course, I read quite a few books 😅. I finished my re-read of SJM’s Throne of Glass series in March. Unsurprising that Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas was my longest read at 989 pages. Now, my goal for 2022 is to read an even longer book. Otherwise, Kingdom of Ash will be my longest book of the year for the 3rd year in a row!

In March, I only completed two books from my Hopefuls list: Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson and She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan. I also started Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler but finished it in April. I’m hoping to get better at predicting my reading mood, which will hopefully help me prioritize all the unread books on my shelf 😅.

I want to figure out how to create a TBR for mood readers. I think the first step is putting fewer books on my TBR or creating a reading schedule to manage my reading time better. But, the likelihood of me doing the latter is low. I’ve seen mood reader TBR lists that are prompt-based, which has been my approach for my monthly Hopefuls. But, my goal in 2022 is to make a dent in my Up Next Shelf which means knocking off specific books each month. So far, the reading challenges have worked well for me but I want the books from my Up Next Shelf to become a larger percentage of the books I read.

I found it funny that my favourite and least favourite books of the month are from the same series (Beach Kingdom by Tessa Bailey)! My reviews of each book are below. Heat Stroke by Tessa Bailey was such a great romance (and great vibes) that I knew immediately after finishing it would be my favourite read of March.

My April Hopefuls

This TBR list is published a bit retroactively. I’m still prioritizing my Up Next Shelf and have included books I didn’t get to in my previous months’ Hopefuls lists. But, I purposefully picked books from my Up Next Shelf that I read in April since this is being published in June 😅.
