My Reading Progress

Get the Book: πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

I’m only 90 books away from my Goodreads goal! Reaching my goal means I have to read a bit under 30 books a month, which is actually do-able for once. I’m low-key hoping to read as close to 400 books as I can πŸ˜….

In other news, I read my eARC of Harvest of Love by M. Moreland last week! It was the perfect sweet romance that explored a really important topic: workplace panic attacks and burnout. I feel that burnout has become more talked about because of the COVID work environments.

My review of the eARC The Lie by Karla Sorensen comes out on Wednesday, so my review of Harvest of Love will be published next week.

Last week, I also read the latest book in the Icehome series, Sam’s Secret by Ruby Dixon. I was completely surprised by Sam’s mate but loved Sessah and Sam together. There’s the perfect amount of angst, romance and character development. Also, the romantic suspense sub-plot kept me on the edge of my seat. Please note that Sam struggles with PTSD from an abusive relationship and stalker back on Earth.

Some other blogging content news: I’m posting my August Wrap Up this weekend which means I’ll finally be caught up on my monthly wraps!

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit has been on my to-be-read list for a while. I decided to put the book on my August Hopefuls in my July Wrap Up.

The book explores the very common phenomena that women encounter in all walks of life – in school, at work, parties and with friends and family – where men tend to explain things to women, and operate on an assumption that they know things and women don’t.

While Rebecca Solnit didn’t coin the word mansplain, this book launched the public discussion that led to the creation of the word.

To Look Forward To This Week

There are so many books on my Anticipated Upcoming Releases page release this Tuesday (Sep. 14th) – five to be precise.

While I’m looking forward to all of them, I’m particularly interested in Assembly by Natasha Brown. It’s a book about a Black British woman taking control of her own story as she “dismantles the mythology of whiteness.”

Other books releasing tomorrow are:

  • Servant of the Blood by K.N. Banet
  • Idol Gossip by Alexandra Leigh Young
  • Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer
  • With You Forever by Chloe Liese
