My Reading Progress

Get the Book: 🇨🇦 ~ 🇬🇧 ~ 🇺🇸

So, in my July 19th to July 25th Weekly Wrap, I listed It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey on my Want-to-Read list, saying, “Will purchase immediately after book-buy-ban is over!”

My book buying ban isn’t over until I’ve read 63 books from my Up Next Shelf… and I’ve only read 34. Yet, I totally caved and bought It Happened One Summer. A critical asterisk, though: I read it instantly – in one day – so at least it’s not sitting around on my Kindle gathering metaphorical dust like my other books on my Up Next Shelf.

I’m also thrilled I read It Happened One Summer in summer; it was the perfect summer romance. The romance between the main characters, Piper and Brendan, was sweet and sexy. Despite them being complete opposites, they were meant to be. It was an obvious 5-star rating.

Last week I binge-read Susan Stoker’s Mountain Mercenaries series (the first book is Defending Allye). I haven’t been in the mood to read romantic suspense in more than six months, so this series was a nice change for me.

Up Next Shelf Progress

A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.

I’m currently reading I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange and Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay. I’m also re-reading We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal to prep for the second book in the Sands of Arawiya duology We Free the Stars (which is on my Up Next Shelf).

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

Get the Book: 🇨🇦

It’s been more than a year since the last book in Ella Summer’s Legion of Angels series was released. And, after the cliffhanger in the last book, I cannot wait to see what’s next in Leda’s story in Phoenix’s Refrain. (Yes, all ten books feature Leda as the protagonist.) I’m also loving how so many of my anticipated books are being released on Kindle Unlimited 😊.

If you’re looking for an irreverent, powerful, independent, kickass FMC, look no further than the urban fantasy series Legion of Angels!

To Look Forward To This Week

Get the Book: 🇨🇦 ~ 🇬🇧 ~ 🇺🇸

Two books from my Anticipated Upcoming Releases list came out yesterday: If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy and The Reading List by Sarah Nisha Adams.

If the Shoe Fits is a modern-day retelling of Cinderella that features a healthier and more nuanced exploration of a blended family. À la One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London, If the Shoe Fits challenges fatphobia through its commentary on dating TV shows, where the Heroine is the first fat contestant.

The Reading List is a heart-warming debut novel that is an ode to reading and how it can bring comfort and foster connection between the unlikeliest of people. (I love the cover!)

If you’ve been digging into my later posts, you’ll see that many of my images are missing. Unfortunately, my Media Library is acting up, but I hope to resolve the issue in the coming week.

Also, keep an eye out for my June Wrap Up! Quick to follow, that is my July Wrap Up. Happy reading! 😊
