Outline

June Reflection and Into July

I’ve put off posting my June Wrap for so long – I think this is the latest I’ve ever posted a Monthly Wrap Up.

June was the month of sci-fi romance reads; half the books I read fell into that genre (that’s 22 books)! The books I read in June also yielded the most 5-star reads (13 books) and the most books read by a single author (26 books). I’ve also noticed a trend over the past six months: I’m reading more and more books from Kindle Unlimited. I really appreciate how authors are putting their books on KU, it makes books more affordable and accessible.

I read six books from my Up Next Shelf. Unfortunately, it’s the same story every month: I need to read more books from my Up Next Shelf 😅. I am getting better, though!

June Book Reviews

Multifaceted Characters

The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Single Sentence Review: A suspenseful novel told in two timelines, 1791 and 2020, explores the motives behind unsolved apothecary murders yet unfortunately suffers from inconsistent pacing.

Finding Ronan’s Heart by Melanie Moreland

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Single Sentence Review: A delightful and loving story that explores independence, (found) family and meaningful connection.

My July Hopefuls

The three books I want to read at a minimum in June are all fantasy novels! I haven’t been in the mood to read YA fantasy in months but I’m finally feeling the desire to read that genre again.

My minimum-TBR list is comprised of:

  • The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna
  • A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy
  • Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao

Anticipated July Releases

Men Are Frogs by Saranna DeWylde
Releasing July 27, 2021

Loved by Liam by Melanie Moreland
Releasing July 29, 2021

See my Upcoming Release page for more of the books I’m looking forward to in July!
