My Reading Progress

I’m proud, and a bit saddened to say that I finished the last book in the Their Champion series this weekend. I remember reading the first book, The Wasteland and becoming so captivated by the Heroine, Worth. She’s incredibly raw and badass and so freaking strong. Finishing the series with The Nations allowed for some great closure to Worth’s story with her five husbands (it’s a reverse harem romance 😉) and becoming Queen of the North. You can read my review of The Nations by K.A. Knight here.

I read only one book from my Up Next shelf this past week (which I also reviewed on this blog): Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis. The book was on my Want to Read list in September, and because of the many 5-star reviews, I decided to move it to the front of the line. However, as you can see in my review (click here), Dear Emmie Blue was a bit of a miss for me–I don’t appreciate Heroines who feed their unrequited love for years on years.

The theme of last week’s book reviews was classic romance tropes. Dear Emmie Blue is the classic combination of ‘unrequited love’ and ‘friends to lovers.’ The second book I reviewed last week was The Favor by Suzanne Wright, an amazing ‘marriage of convenience’ contemporary novel.

I loved The Favor so much–I loved how complex both the Hero and Heroine’s families were; the book is filled with drama. I rated The Favor 4.75 stars, and you can read my review here!

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

Untamed by Glennon Doyle has been on my back-burner for quite a while, so I’m so excited to finally get into the memoir. The novel’s premise is the author, Glennon, meeting her now-wife at a conference and instantly knowing she was the person Glennon wanted to spend the rest of her life with. However, at the time, she was still married to the father of her children.

Untamed details Glennon standing by her feelings and her journey as she decides to fight against years of cultural conditioning and re-learning how to put herself first.

I’m really excited to read how Glennon writes about pushing societal boundaries since I’ve read many conflicting reviews.

To Look Forward To This Week

I found out the release date of one of my most anticipated books last week, the sixth book in the Age of the Andinna series: The Champion’s Ruin by Kristen Banet, coming November 24th. It got me so pumped that I started re-reading my favourite scenes from the rest of the books.

If you love slow-burn reverse harem romances and epic fantasy novels, I highly recommend the Age of the Andinna series! There’s also the added touch of a revolution, amazing world-building, a kickass gladiator Heroine and lots of political intrigues.
