My Reading Progress

The conclusion to Aria’s story in Stacy Jones’s Taken series was amazing! Aria is such a badass and Stacy’s world-building was amazing – I felt completely immersed in the alien planet. I also LOVED how Stacy incorporated queendom and court politics and espionage into her plot. The new plot lines and continued character development allowed the book to surpass my expectations.

I also read the highly anticipated continuation of Suzanne Wright’s urban fantasy Dark in You series, Fallen. Finally, there’s a book by this author with no ex-partner drama!

Up Next Shelf Progress

A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.

No reads from my Up Next Shelf this week 🙈.

To Be Read

Get the Book: 🇨🇦 ~ 🇬🇧 ~ 🇺🇸

I want to get back into my feminist books so I’m adding Reclaiming Our Space: How Black Feminists Are Changing the World From the Tweets to the Streets by Feminista Jones to my currently reading list.

That makes a total of three feminist books I’m currently reading, including:

  • Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay, and
  • I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange.

To Look Forward To This Week

Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian releases on July 6th – tomorrow! I’m LOVING all the feminist re-tellings of old stories, myths and fairy tales. This book is a feminist re-telling of King Arthur from the perspective of Elaine, The Lady of Shalott, who can see the future.

“As visions are fulfilled and an inevitable fate closes in, Elaine must decide how far she will go to change fate–and what she is willing to sacrifice along the way.”

Blurb of Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian

Unfortunately, I’m only halfway through my goal of knocking 63 books from my Up Next Shelf which means I won’t be buying new books for a while. However, Half Sick of Shadows will be one of the books I purchase once I can!
