April Reflection and Into May
April was another stressful month but it was so busy, with so many deadlines, that I didn’t have the time to read as many books as I did in March (see my March Wrap Up here). However, I am proud that I read more books from my Up Next Shelf! Most importantly, five of those reads have been on the shelf for over two years. It felt so good to finally read them and my tastes were validated β I didn’t rate any of them lower than 3-stars π . Even better, one of them (Writers & Lovers by Lily King) is my favourite book of the month.
I was so busy with school this semester that I didn’t post my weekly wraps as usual. However, I still compiled a list of the books I wanted to read in April from my Goodreads want-to-read list. The books I added to my want-to-read list in April was a combination of fantasy, literary fiction, retellings and thrillers. I was so happy when I discovered that The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang is included in my Kindle Unlimited subscription!
Finally, I joined the TBR Knockout challenge in April when I realized I unintentionally have fulfilled each month’s prompt. I’m also still on track with my Goodreads (400 books) and The Storygraph (100,000 pages) challenges. But, I need to start prioritizing the Diversify Yo’ Bookshelf challenge.

My May Hopefuls
My May Hopefuls is once again retroactive. In addition to books from my Up Next Shelf, I’ve included two recent purchases, A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman and Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel, to fulfill my Spring BINGO reading challenge. I’m also continuing to work towards my monthly goals of reading two nonfiction books and two 500+ page books each month. I haven’t been that consistent but it’s something to work towards.
