The two books imaged in this section (Blindly Acquitted and All Rhodes Lead Here) are actually two of my three 5-star reads from last week!
I talked about Blindly Acquitted by Katie May in last week’s Weekly Wrap (see here), and I’m happy to report my expectations were exceeded! I felt like Katie finally found her rhythm with these characters in the finale to the duology (the first book is Blindly Indicted, btw). You can read my review here, but I’m thinking of also posting a series review ASAP.
Finding out Mariana Zapata (the QUEEN of slow-burn romances) was coming out with a new book this April was the best news. Then, yesterday, it came across my Goodreads feed; low-and-behold it released on April 1st, and I had no clue! I seriously need to work on how I keep track of anticipated releases; so many of them fall through the cracks (the worst was Finding Unity by Ripley Proserpina, which released in July 2020… and I thought it was still yet to be released *facepalm*).
Anyways, All Rhodes Lead Here is THE perfect slow-burn romance read for 2021. Since everyone is living in uncertainty, I LOVED how there was no unnecessary angst or drama. But, this book delivered with the feels, the slow-burn romance, the emotions and the characters! Ugh, It was just so amazing. I seriously had a grin on my face all day while reading it. I’m going to post an in-depth review very soon 😏.

Also, for those interested in reading All Rhodes Lead Here, I LOVE Mariana Zapata’s books, but they are the epitome of SLOW-burn – like the couple doesn’t get together till the end of the book slow. However, Zapata has the magic touch that makes it all worth it, so I suggest giving one of her books a try before nixing them.

I only read one book from my Up Next Shelf last week: Counterstory: The Rhetoric and Writing of Critical Race Theory by Aja Y. Martinez. To be honest, last week was also very busy, and the only reason I read so many books was that I basically just sat in bed and read book after book on Friday 😂.
I’m hoping this week I read only books from my Up Next Shelf, considering it’s a hectic week for me… honestly, now that I think about it, April is a busy month.

To Be Read
I’m still working my way through Rules for Being a Girl by Candace Bushnell! I have yet to start From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but my goal is to have it and the series’ next book, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, read before the release of the final book in the trilogy on April 20th. I promised my friend we’re going to buddy read the finale 😅.
I’m adding to my #tbr list because I like having options! So, I also wanted to read The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi this week (or soon). I have a lot going on with school now, so this list is strictly a wish list, but I’m also a stress reader, so it’s more than likely all of these will be read this coming week.
To Look Forward To This Week
There are no books on my anticipated releases coming out this week, but I’m planning on posting my March Wrap Up! As always, don’t hold me to the promises I make in this section 😅; I tend to use it as an aspirational posting plan, but the reality is not straightforward.
Since this week is the first official week of April, I want to mention that I’m planning on post a few book reviews soon and an April Book Haul! It’s been a while since I’ve bought a haul-worthy amount of books in consecutive months, but here I am. I’m really excited to get into these new purchases; there are quite a few books I cannot wait to read, including some limited edition copies and a book that people tried to get banned in 2020!
