My Reading Progress

Yet another Weekly Wrap that pulls double duty: in this post, I’m reflecting on my reading habits for the past two weeks (I did something similar in June) since life has been too chaotic to do one per week.

Between studying for exams, I received and read my ARC of Age of Ava by Melanie Moreland. My review will be out the last week of August, but I think this book is my favourite by Moreland. The Hero and Heroine perfectly complimented each other, and I loved the sub-plot of the Heroine dealing with sexism in her man-dominated industry.

I’m generally not one for really angsty or emotional romances. However, I always trust Emma Scott to make it worth the heartbreak. The Full Tilt duet by Emma Scott broke my heart and put it back together by the end of the series. It’s a book about addiction, healing, illness, death, grief and love. The duet was SO freaking good; I read both books in 12-hours. The messaging in the duet is phenomenal, and the romance was swoon-worthy.

Up Next Shelf Progress

A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.

None for the past two weeks! Ugh, I need to start prioritizing this list 😅.

To Be Read

We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal is back on my TBR list. In the past two weeks, I finished the first book in the duet, We Hunt the Flame, and enjoyed it more than the first time I read it! I’m really excited to finish the duology and see how the story evolves. I just need to get out of my current romantic suspense mood 😅.

To Look Forward To This Week

Two books released yesterday (August 17th): Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and the second book in the Raybearer series, Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko.

Velvet Was the Night is an intimate, historical noir novel. Not to be confused with a thriller, the stakes are smaller in noir books, and the plot focuses more on character development. Sounds like my kind of book.

Before reading Redemptor, I really need to read Raybearer 😅. If you’ve been reading my posts, you’ll know that I haven’t been in the YA Fantasy mood for a while. However, I’m hoping to change that around with my current read: We Free the Stars.
