The Eagle starts a few days after The Prince ended and picks up with a new conspiracy, mission and is filled to the brim with action. There’s also much anticipation over the mystery of Huntley’s past. Especially since her mission in The Eagle is to track down and eliminate the assassin who killed her mother. As you can guess, this opens a whole can of worms as Huntley and her sidekicks devel further into her past and the mysterious organization that is running the show.

One of my biggest complaints about The Prince was Huntley’s wishy-washy feelings on Lorenzo. At the end of The Prince, it seems as if Lorenzo decided to let Huntley go and was going to pursue his childhood friend Elizabeth and Huntley was going to go off with Daniel (the US Vice President’s son). However, in the first chapter of this book, we instantly see this is not the case… it almost seemed as if Dodd changed her mind once she started writing The Eagle about which guy she wanted Huntley to end up with.

Dodd continued with the fame and glamorous new life/cover of Huntley/X. It makes the story that much more entertaining, and with the plot being set in the USA–in their deceased fake billionaire father’s estate–we’re once again experiencing another realm of wealth. The integration of US politics and the CIA also makes this story awesome to read.

The love triangle between the Prince, Huntley, and Daniel is also heavily prevalent in The Eagle, with the media regularly reporting on Huntley and her love life. Usually, love triangles bug the shit out of me, but I think the fact that it’s Huntley’s job as a spy is keeping her from committing to Lorenzo, not her feelings for Daniel.

I also really appreciated Dodd’s realistic approach to the espionage business, the fact that killing is another facet of the job to an assassin… it’s not personal, just business. Also, there’s a huge plot twist towards the end that adds to the mystery of Huntley’s parent’s past and makes you question the people Huntley reports to.

I can’t wait to read the next book! Look for the review next week, same day and time!
