Taming Alex probably would, or even should, have been 3-stars, but everything just progressed way too fast. And I’m sorry, even though Travis was a capital ASSHOLE, the fact that everyone automatically assumed the bad things happening was him even when they started getting crazy felt off.
I assumed before reading this that Taming Alex was going to be about a wild girl who loved to party and being single and about the stable, good guy trying to win her heart and tie her down. But it wasn’t … at all. First off, Alexis wasn’t that wild, the only thing wild about her was the fact that she’s engaged to her on again off again boyfriend who was the definition of a bad boy. Dating him made her “wild” by association, I guess.
I think the thing that made me want to give Taming Alex 3-stars was the relationship between Grant and Alexis. Grant was adorable! He blushes so much and over such little things that I found it so endearing. But on the flip side, their relationship progressed too fast in some aspects, for example, the physical part of their relationship, since Alexis did just break up with her fiancé. And too slow in others due to Alexis’s bullshit mental blocks–I think Sanders just wanted another subplot to keep the story going.
My expectations for Taming Alex were a lot bigger than I got. There are so many similar books; therefore, to get the 3+ rating, a book needs to captivate me. Taming Alex did none of that, and no matter how cute I found Grant and Alexis and her sisters (and Chase), the book just wasn’t enough.
