Series: Steel Demons MC, #9.5

Release Date: December 3, 2021

Synopsis
Our love is endless.

The war is over. Finally, we can breathe and be a family.

With the worst moments of our lives behind us, we have only the future to look forward to. Our twins arrived nearly four years after the Sha was defeated, and now we face a new challenge–parenthood.

Whether it’s our daughter taunting the chickens or our son’s fear of water, we’ll take the highs and lows of raising them in stride. Most importantly, they’ll never know the horror and loss their parents endured. Our children will be protected and loved endlessly.

The gods haven’t spoken to us in years, but we’ve never stopped listening. When they have a message, we’ll be ready.

Endless is an epilogue novella to the Steel Demons MC series. It is not “required” reading, as the story ends in Merciless. This book shares a slice of life for the Steel Demons characters after the series ends.

•••

The novella epilogue of the nine-book Steel Demons MC series, Endless was released last week! I’m so happy Crystal Ash decided to allow her readers to see where Mariposa and her husbands are around 5-years after the conclusion of Merciless.

What I appreciated most about Endless was that the epilogue was substantive. It was just a sexy fluffy story that gave a brief glimpse into the characters’ lives. Instead, we got to see how Mariposa and her husbands are dealing with the trauma of the war, parenting and how the rebuilding of their town (and country) is going. I enjoyed seeing how the main characters had different parenting approaches and how the group managed these differences. It was also fun to see the kids with their unique personalities. The sub-plot between Mariposa’s son and his new friend was so sweet.

I admit I was a bit stressed about seeing Reaper and Mariposa’s relationship after so many years. I know their issues were resolved in Merciless. There is a notable difference in their relationship before and after the events in Heartless. It’s realistic, but because there was so much external angst – abduction and war – happening in the last book, I never felt Reaper and Mariposa rediscovered their equilibrium. However, Endless was an assurance that their relationship was going strong and that Reaper had found his balance as a husband and father.

The cherry on top in this series was the light touches of the paranormal. Crystal does such a great job including these touches without forcing the book into the strictly paranormal or urban fantasy genre. These moments also related to some really touching callback to the people lost throughout the series (and before).

In Conclusion

The reason I didn’t rate the novella 5-stars is that I wanted more romance. I know a novella means there’s a lot to cover in very little space, but as a romance reader, I always want romance to be the central focus of a story 😅.

Of course, now I’m interested in a spin-off series about Mariposa’s children. There’s such great potential for this world Crystal has developed. Excitingly, T-Bone, Dyno and Grudge are getting their own book (maybe, series); Sons of Odin will be released in Spring 2022!
