My Reading Progress
Last week was so busy that I only read two very short books (both were less than a hundred pages). However, I’m proud one of them is from my Up Next Shelf: I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange.
It took me a month to read I Hate Men because I found it incredibly thought-provoking. Of course, I don’t think misandry is an answer to the patriarchy. There were quite a few passages that made me think.
I also noticed that as of right now I have 100 books to go to complete my Goodreads Reading Challenge!
Up Next Shelf Progress
A reminder: my Up Next Shelf is comprised of all the unread books I want to read and have purchased.
I read one book from my Up Next Shelf last week: I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange.

The Upcoming Week
To Be Read
Halfbreed by Maria Campbell has been on my Up Next Shelf for quite a while. Maria is MΓ©tis and the book is a memoir that documents and follows Maria as she takes pride in her heritage.
The book is set in Canada and unflinching confronts the injustices the MΓ©tis have faced.
Many reviews mention how Halfbreed disrupts and challenges the prevalent stereotype that there’s no racism in Canada; that everyone is “nice” and “polite” to everyone, all the time.
To Look Forward To This Week
I’m so excited for The Last Chance Library by Freya Sampson. The story combines a lonely librarian Heroine β who’s about to lose her library β a sleepy English setting and a reappearance of an old friend β now crush. The Last Chance Library shows how communities come together. The synopsis suggests there’s going to be a lot of character growth, which I love to read.
The Last Chance Library is coming out on Tuesday, August 31, 2021!
