My Reading Progress

December has been another chaotic month! I’ve been so busy essay writing that I haven’t had time to post my Weekly Wrap. As a result, this post includes the books I’ve read for the past two weeks.

I’m proud to say that while I was procrastinating I read four books from my Up Next Shelf! I ended up reading The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins back-to-back, which I do not recommend. They were sad in their own ways, but in the end, I liked the ending of The Song of Achilles much more. I found the ending of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo a bit depressing.

I also read Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey which has been on my TBR since August! There is a YA romance but the book felt more like a family drama coming-of-age story for the protagonist. Once I adjusted my expectations, I really enjoyed the book. The last of the four was Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, which was one of my most eagerly anticipated reads. While I really liked the premise, I was a bit let down by the relationship developments.

The newest genre to hit my shelves is graphic novels! I read my one last week: Fangs by Sarah Anderson. It’s a cute romance between a vampire and a werewolf with all the tropes.

The Upcoming Week

To Be Read

I’m finally getting around to reading one of my eagerly anticipated books When the Stars Go Dark by Paula McLain. I’ve been in the mood to read a mystery/thriller novel – with a woman protagonist – for weeks now. But, I wanted to be in the right mindset.

I’m especially excited by the premise which suggests a character-driven plot. Hopefully, When the Stars Go Dark launches a new interest in this genre!

I’m SO excited for the release of Save Me by Ashley N. Rostek! This book will be read within hours of its release. It’s the only plan I’ve made for December 30th so far; that’s how pumped I am.

Save Me is the second book in the WITSEC reverse harem romance series. The first book ended with a mild cliffhanger so I’m hoping if Save Me also ends with a cliffhanger it’s not too bad. All the teasers suggest I’m going to adore this book. Only four more sleeps 🤪.
