12 New Books: Maytime Book Haul

1

12 new books comprise my Maytime book haul! I’m so excited that so many of these books have feminist themes.

Overview

I’ve decided my Maytime Book Haul is going to be my last book haul until I get through at least half of my Up Next Shelf (which you can peruse here). As of right now, there are ~80 books on the shelf, so I’m planning on reading 40 of them! Included in that list are the 12 new books I’m breaking down in my Maytime Book Haul.

To break down this haul, here are a few standouts:

Most Anticipated? I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange. The author unpacks misandry and argues it’s not the same as misogyny. I also love reading books that have been banned – in the case of this book, France’s government tried (and failed) to ban it, citing the book as hate speech. To be determined if I Hate Men meets my expectations.

Longest Book? Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley at 496 pages
Shortest Book? I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange at 80 pages
Average Book Length: 313 pages

After discussing the themes of this haul, I split the haul into two stacks based on colour. However, my corresponding Instagram photos are not separated in the same way; instead, I chose to highlight the two limited edition books in my Maytime Book Haul. The haul comes to a total of 12 books!

To Look Forward To

I am hoping to create a system that extends my monthly minimum to-be-read list so that I can make a larger dent in my Up Next Shelf sooner. To be determined what that system is 😅. Also, in the next week, I’m hoping to post my April Wrap Up, I just have to sort through all my data first.
